Edit: I finished the Eid card.
Gosh, I’ve really been abandoning this blog. The thought, “maybe I should just delete this whole dang site” always emerges whenever I’m busy with school and/or am too lazy to work on website stuff (like re-writing my content pages, re-collecting my blogroll links, actually blogging regularly, actually visiting my blogroll links and returning comments, etc.) but I know that if I do that, I’ll regret it one day. One day when I wish I had somewhere to rant and complain and share pictures and talk about what I’ve been doing.
It’s unfortunate that my host has been through so many problems and this site has had to be rebuilt so many times… Wouldn’t it be nice if I actually had my blog entries from … 2004 (was it? I don’t even remember ), all in one place and archived neatly and still viewable. But things happen and there’s nothing I could’ve done. I’ve thought of moving to wordpress.com but the freedom of making my own themes doesn’t exist there. Everything’s more … restricted. And I’ve always been a loyal person and Nile‘s a great host to have, so pixelled.com is my home, even though I sometimes don’t update for a long, long time.
I don’t really have anything to say, though. It’s the Eid (a.k.a. Hari Raya) and Deepavali (a.k.a. Diwali) holidays, but after 10 days I’ll be back at college for my final exams for two weeks, and then it’ll be my end-of-semester holidays, all through November and December.
See? I really don’t know what to say. Hmph. We’ll be spending Eid in Johor in our village; probably nothing much and nothing new. I don’t have any photos to show you yet, so maybe after Eid I’ll have some stuff. I’m trying to make an Eid e-card or something, but I have no idea what to draw. Mosques and ketupats (rice cooked inside woven coconut leaves, something that has always represented Eid) are way too common on Raya greeting cards. Draw me? Don’t wanna. Draw kids in their new clothes? Ehhh.
Okay now I’ve just remembered that I still have that video blog to edit. It’s supposed to show my room at the hostel and stuff but now the semester is already ending and I’m just too lazy and … I might just scrap it. God, I should get rid of this attitude. I don’t really have much to do but I don’t feel like doing anything at all. Don’t wanna start studying yet ’cause it’s only the first day of the holidays and … erggghh.
Oh well. Maybe something will cheer me up. I need to go shopping tomorrow for new shoes, my sandals (that I’ve only bought in July this year) are falling apart and I don’t have any other shoes at home and to wear for Eid… As for clothes, thankfully I got a few — last week went we went to KL (Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and the like). There was one baju kurung I got that costed RM20, could you believe that? 20 ringgit is like US$5.44! Usually off-the-shelf baju kurungs are at least RM100, and more than that if custom-made. (‘Cause you need to buy the fabric itself and plus tailor fees to that.) It was definitely different than the typical shiny, patterned baju kurungs and the cutting was slightly wrong ’cause the top is straight from top to bottom instead of flaring out, and the size wasn’t my size (which is XS or SS, if you have to know) so I had to alter the length of the sleeves, but still… 20 ringgit.
I’ll show you pictures later, when I actually get to wear the clothes.
Drawing of me and a friendHaven’t done anything artsy at all except for this one vector-like tracing. I’ve been doing a lot of PowerPoint presentations and Microsoft Publisher brochures for school projects. I think I’m sick of using PowerPoint now. You know how I have the tendency to get really really picky on things like webdesign and just general design, so I’ll spend as much time I can just tweaking this and changing that until I’m satisfied. (Or until I get tired.)
Okay, the part of my brain that tells me what to write seems to be taking a break. When I’m feeling less like a sloth I’ll try and work on the site, okay? In the spirit of Eid (which, tentatively, is on the 24th), I apologise for anything I might’ve said or done, I hope everybody’s doing great and Eid Mubarak / Selamat Hari Raya!
