Lucky.

I think those of you who have been reading my entries for awhile, could tell that my blog has become increasingly less personal (wait — increasingly less?! Oxymoron, much? :P ) . My rants have been limited to projects and assignments, there have been few photos of daily life, of the things I’ve bought, seen, discovered, less thoughts that needed sharing, or accounts of adventures and friends. I suppose the only reason I can think of, is I’ve found other outlets for expressing that side of me. But having said all this, I feel like having a personal entry again today, to talk about people; friends and family.

Because uni life has been rather uneventful. The final week of Easter/Spring holidays was spent forcing myself to finish the 2500-word Western Architecture essay, though I literally trudged through at a snail’s pace, spending more time taking “breaks”, chatting on Pidgin, and playing Scrabble on Facebook rather than typing and researching. My hope is just to pass the module — essay-writing is just so not my thing, especially on subjects that are as dry as week-old bread. Currently it is exam season, and unfortunately Architecture has written exams too, at least in this uni. My one and only exam paper is on the 3rd of June, and it will be for the Technology/Environment module. I also have a portfolio submission due on the 8th of June, which, of course, I haven’t even started yet. (All too natural for a procrastinator; the longer the length of time you have to complete a task, the more you delay even thinking about doing it. You sorta kinda regret it afterwards and yet, repeat the habit for the next task. Perfect. )

The only classes/lectures left will be Computing ones (I believe we’ll be learning how to use CAD) for two weeks a week, starting on the 8th. After those are done, it’ll be the Summer holidays and I am coming home sweet home, honey! Can’t wait!

A brotherly discovery

I suppose I should start by saying that throughout these … 8 months (omg rly?!?! :o ) that I’ve been in the UK, most of my contact with home have been limited to YM-ing and Skyping with my mum, younger brothers, the cats (albeit certain cases involved physical struggle, and occasionally one-way communication :T ), and close friends. My dad e-mails me sometimes, and I do write letters (that’s snail mail yo! ^_^ ) to the select few, and of course there’s Facebook. (So far — every member of my family is there except for my youngest bro. Though having your parents as your Facebook friends definitely has pros and cons… ^^; )

And conversations have always been very casual. What’s going on in the house, what’s up with the bros, school, work, class, projects, do you have enough money, what are you drawing now, when are the holidays, is my big bro home, is the microwave back, etc. etc. But some time ago, my daily blog-hopping / link-clicking / aimless surfing lead me to discovering … the blog of one of my brothers. Which I never knew existed (although I’m sure it’s been mentioned at some point, but never the URL or host; nothing specific). Imagine my surprise to see not only my name mentioned in a few posts, but photos of yours truly as well! (Most of which I’ve never seen before / never knew were taken. :shakefist: Geesh.)

I shall now do some copy-pasting just to show how totally touched I was to read his thoughts… Thoughts that were never voiced, that I never knew. The blog shall remain *cough* nameless and unlinked from here, as my bro did — in the beginning — have issues with me discovering it. :B But you’re fine now, right, kiddo? Keep blogging, it’s healthy for you.

Okay…Now, to mah only and best sistah in ze world. Her name is Aneesah. 19 years old (yes, she looks very young and I’m taller than her LOL).

He was introducing the siblings in that particular post, and yes there was a random few-years-ago-photo of me (and the other bros) stuck in there. He loves to point out how much and how fast he’s growing, and how much I’m shrinking into a dwarf standing beside all of them. -_-;

This other post was titled Bye…='(, and reading it made me weep in front of my laptop in the middle of the night. Seriously, I’d say I didn’t have any bad cases of homesickness until I read these words:

Monday 15th September.

This post is 100% dedicated to my sister, Aneesah.

She will be leaving for UK (Canterbury, Kent, to be exact…) tomorrow at 3am…She will be going there to further her studies for at least 5 years, if I’m not mistaken…

Even though I get scolded by her very often and sometimes we fight, she still is my one and only sister and I love her very much. I’m gonna miss her a lot.

I wish her a very safe trip and hope that everything goes well for her…

Your little idiot brother,

ME! =)

EDIT (5:27AM) : The first thing I knew, I was woken up by my maid at 5am. I checked my phone alarm clock, and it said the alarm time was 3pm. How clumsy was I…I really intended to wake up at 3am and see her depart….*Sigh*…

I also just realized that we’re gonna celebrate Raya without her…It just doesn’t seem right to have raya without my sis…My sis and I used to do really stupid idiotic foolish pointless stuff during raya…And now I guess I have to do it alone then… =(

EDIT (7:58PM) 16th September : We had dinner…And I could really feel that something was missing…I kept looking at the empty chair in front of me and wondered if she’s okay…It was a lot lonelier without her…

I found out that she would be arriving at UK later at 10pm too…

Not really EDIT, just some additions (9:56PM) 17th September : I received news that my sister arrived safely there, Alhamdulillah. Plus, she met mom’s school friend whom mom haven’t met in 15 years. She have been helping my sis with everything there like buying stuff, etc… Now I feel more secured… =)

-Thanks to Allah’s mercy.

Damn. I guess it was a good thing I only read all that months after it was posted. I would’ve had way more trouble settling in, missing home and everything. :x The “mum’s school friend” is of course Aunty Azmah, my mum’s dedicated spy here. ;)

Oh, and there was a birthday post early this year:

8th feb.

Aneesah/neesah/encha nye b’day. o.o;

HAHAHA DAH TUA. jk

happy b’day to my sis. she’s…uhh…i forgot how old she is, but..she’s old, alright =p

she’s currently studying at UK…so…i cant give her anything as a present… (lol nice alasan, eh? xD)

so…yeah…

EDIT: she’s 20 years old. ZOMG SHE HAS ESCAPED THE AGE OF TEEN-NESS. get it?..nineTEEN/twenty. there isnt a “teen” in 20. o.o;

Dude. Yeah, thanks for pointing out the “teen” bit.

And I still want my present. :/

Why not all Facebook tags are stupid

Right. Moving along now… I suppose most of my Facebook friends would know how I love posting Links and writing Notes, some as short and random as:

You know what I find funny? That on a bag of lettuce, it says:

Suitable for vegetarians.

Like, …. :|

while others are longer and of the tag/meme sorts. I don’t think they’re at all stupid or pointless, I believe there are many ways of expressing yourself, and reading others’ writings are almost as direct as listening to them speak. Back to my point (yes, there is indeed a point here), recently I was tagged with another of those things, and duly posted it and did the tag. Little did I know what kind of effects it would bring, how enlightening it was, and how much it cheered me up. This was the said tag:

Leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn’t matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember! Don’t send a message, just leave a comment on here to answer each of the question. Next, re-post this in your notes and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually pretty cool (and funny) to see the responses.

Follow this format.

1. Who are you?
2. Are we friends?
3. When and how did we meet?
4. Do you have a crush on me?
5. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.
6. Describe me in one word.
7. What was your first impression?
8. Do you still think that way about me now?
9. What reminds you of me?
10. If you could give me anything what would it be?
11. How well do you know me?
12. When was the last time you saw me?
13. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn’t?
14. Are you going to post this in your notes and see what I say about you?
15. What is my best attribute?

Yes, random but normal questions that you may or may not like to know the answers to. Nine people answered the tag, and I’d just like to pick some of my favourite answers and post them here. Just to say thanks. ;) (Or maybe no thanks…)

1. Who are you?

A hot gal by Aisyah Rozi.
[HAHA sempat tuh! :P ]

2. Are we friends?

Hard to answer this. I guess i’ll juz pass ^^ by Zharfan.
[Heh, it is actually quite hard to answer, trust me. But I think I owe Zharfan for a few things, including tagging me, so… thanks Fafan. :) ]

3. When and how did we meet?

We met when we were teeny people (I don’t even remember what age we were then!! it’s so lang ago) and our parents were family friends, so, go figure! by Ahya’.
[Too true. Teeny people. The thing with me and family friends is; I tend to know them in general and see them occasionally but somehow we barely talk? Until the age of Friendster and Facebook and I find them online and we actually communicate.]

4. Do you have a crush on me?

haha.malu la nk admit~~ hehehe *blushing* by Hazirah.
[Ngahaha. Lawakla sangat. :P ]

5. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.

Esah cuz it annoys u so much. xD by Zakwan.
[This would be one of those ‘no thanks’ instances. :T My ex-classmate Icam also gave me the same nickname once. Who in the world would want to be called Esah?! :shakefist: ]

6. Describe me in one word.

I’m gonna list all the answers, because I find the… theme going on a bit amusing:
artsy, creative, genius, creative, creative, genius, soft, fluent, and procrastination.
[Well, except for the last three. The final one is a total ‘no thanks’ case. :suspicious: ]

7. What was your first impression?

Also several answers:
A lil’ quiet, senyap sgt, ………….. *bunyi cengkerik* <--- "penyenyap“, very shy by Kimmy, ‘Atiyah, Hazirah and Atiqah, respectively.
[ *_* I guess… I can be really quiet in RL? Eek.]

8. Do you still think that way about me now?

Following the above order:
Nawhh way..we’ve LOADS to crap about everytime we talk, NO…..you can talk a lot and really fast..there’s lot of info to digest…., maybe, not on facebook no, but real life, yeah, kinda :D .
[Okay… ^^;]

9. What reminds you of me?

Almost all the other answers were related to crafts and handmade stuff, but Aisyah’s was:
uh.. bila dgr suara yg comel gila
[-_-; Dammit. I know I have a really girly kiddy voice mmk. :( But thanks anyway dear. :P ]

10. If you could give me anything what would it be?

i’m offering you my friendship :) , my love. cewah. ahahaha by Hazirah, Aisyah.
[Hehe. I like that they’re not materialistic answers. ]

11. How well do you know me?

Do i know u???? xD by Zharfan.
[Hahahaha. Great answer. ]

12. When was the last time you saw me?

tapenahjumpa :( , Have we ever met b4??? by Aisyah, Zharfan.
[Yeah… one’s an online friend, the other’s a… brother of a friend or ex-schoolmate of my brothers or random YM-stalker or all of the above. :|

13. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn’t?

you are so cute :) by Atiqah.
This one seriously deserves an award or something hahahahaha. ^_^

15. What is my best attribute?

All the answers:
Determinationnnnnnn; You can do anything!; sorry can’t think of anything; Your sense of humour and the fact that u can change anything into useful artworks ^^, ; ur kindness, friendliness, and ur artsy nature; hard working; you’re creative and artistic; Frankly, your lovely voice when u speak.
[Aww and thanks to all (even the ones who didn’t answer), except for that last statement because it reeks with sarcasm. ]

Isn’t it just nice to hear random nice things from nice people once in awhile? ^_^ Though seriously most of the things aren’t always true (like… how am I “soft”? :x ), butwhocaresanyway. :P Heehee.

I actually wanted to write a few more stuff but it’s late and I’m sleepy and this entry is long enough. :) I gotta save some stuff for future entries, no?

The usual crafts-dump

I’ve been very productive crafts-wise, since… er, I don’t have classes and don’t feel like studying? :suspicious: I’m also attempting to use up my stash of JUNK that’s under my bed, in boxes, drawers and chucked into several other corners of my room, since I’ll be moving out in a month’s time and the less crap I need to transfer to the new house, the better. Thumbnails will be linked to the Flickr pages, so browse your heart out.

Hello Aneesah! Sorry, it’s been so long! How have you been? (:

Anyway, those are really sweet blog posts by your little brother! At least it is good to know that you’re still in his mind. ;) I was teased with that ‘twenty’-bit when I turned 20 three years ago, until I started telling people that I was ‘twenteen’. Ultimately, it all boils down to feeling young. Age is just a number!

  11. Aneesah says:

Hey, I e-mailed you about it. Basically you need to use a clickable smilies plugin like WP-Grins, works pretty well.

What do you think?
